Meet the Committee

Sean Connell-President

Sean Connell is a lifelong Fall River resident and Pride Committee President. After graduating from UMass Dartmouth with degrees in Political Science and Women & Gender Studies, Sean returned to his hometown to start his career in youth development and education. A founding member of the Fall River Pride Committee, Sean currently works with LGBTQ youth as a teacher and mentor. Sean has also worked for other local agencies including Greater Fall River Re-Creation, United Neighbors of Fall River, and School on Wheels of Massachusetts. Having run for the Fall River School Committee twice, Sean has a deep passion for community organizing and civic education. His work throughout the city has made Sean a well-known fixture in Fall River. He resides in the south end of the city with his partner Stephen and their fur baby Moses.

Michael Almeida-Vice President

Michael Almeida moved to Fall River in 2008 and has been with the Fall River Pride Committee since its founding in 2018. Before moving to Fall River, Mikey had a successful career in youth services, even receiving numerous citations from the city of Brockton for his outstanding volunteer clean-up efforts. Due to his passion for education, Mikey ran for Brockton School Committee. Since being here in Fall River, Mikey has become an integral part of the Fall River Fire Department and works as a Mail Carrier for the United States Postal Service. An avid sports fan, you can always count on Mikey for a good laugh, a supportive shoulder to lean on, and unending passion for building up our community. Mikey is also the current 2023-2024 Mr. LGBTQ Fall River. Mikey is excited and honored to be serving as our Vice President.

Rachel Loomis-Secretary

Rachel is a recent transplant to the Southcoast, having moved from southern IL in June of 2021. She graduated from Murray State University (MSU) in 2012 with honors and with a B.S. in Chemistry and a minor in criminal justice. During her time at MSU, she served as both secretary and president of the campus’ LGBTQ group, the Murray State Alliance, pushing for acknowledgment and equality on campus. A passionate reader, writer, and artist, Rachel enjoys nothing more than an afternoon of writing followed by an evening spent reading or crafting. Sometimes both. She currently serves as Secretary of the Fall River Pride Committee (FRPC), running events like Friendsgiving and Family Reading Hour, as well as assisting with the group’s other events like Pride and Transgender Day of Remembrance. Outside of her work with the FRPC, she also volunteers with School on Wheels, Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Rotch-Jones-Duff Museum, Laundry Love, and Safe Spaces.

Aimee Tredeau-Treasurer

Aimee Tredeau discovered the Fall River Pride Committee in Fall of 2022, and actively joined in 2023. Having raised two children as a single mother, she is no stranger to balancing finances and income. This is why she is excited to announce that she has taken on the newest adventure in her life as the official role of Treasurer for the Pride Committee. Aimee has a wide background of various interests and careers, ranging from early childhood education, culinary/baking, fine arts, and is known for her shenanigans and various antics. Aimee takes greatest pride in her children, Adric and Riley, without whom she would be completely lost, and her partner Joey. She also has the privilege of being a servant to two feline companions, Mr. Lucky and Draco.

Myles Lowery-Communications Director

Myles Lowery is an Emmy nominated videographer currently working as a video technician at The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and serving as the committee’s communications director since 2021. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Film/Video from Columbia College Chicago and has over 20 years of experience in video production. His interests include traveling, language learning, and experiencing food and cultures from around the world.

Lisa Amaral-Network and Business Co-Coordinator

Network and Business Co-Coordinator Lisa Amaral joined the Fall River Pride Committee in July of 2023. An eleven-year resident of Fall River, where she lives with her fiancé Nina Rego and their five children. She enjoys a position as packaging agent at Cresco labs. Lisa has served the community both in her professional and personal life, spending three years as an EMT and volunteering as an elementary school landscaper. In her free time, Lisa enjoys writing poetry and spending time with her family.

Nina Rego-Network and Business Co-Coordinator

Nina Rego joined the Fall River Pride Committee in July of 2023 as the Network and Business Co-Coordinator in July. A lifelong resident of Fall River, she developed a keen sense of justice while volunteering for the city’s Rape Crisis Center, as well as having served an internship with the Child Advocacy Center in Fall River. She went on to graduate Bristol Community College with an Associate’s Degree in criminal justice. Currently, she lives with her fiancé Lisa Amaral and their five children and is looking forward to celebrating their wedding in June 2024. In her free time, Nina enjoys traveling, cooking, concerts, singing, and spending time with her family.

Rev. James Medley-Religious Outreach

The Rev. James Medley is an Episcopal priest and the rector of Church of the Holy Spirit in Fall River, MA. He and Holy Spirit have been working with the committee as a straight ally since 2022. Fr. James has a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA, and a Master of Divinity degree from the Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, TX. Fr. James hopes his and Holy Spirit’s work with the Pride Community in Fall River may help repair some of the damage suffered by the LGBTQIA+ community at the hands of the greater Church over the centuries. Fr. James enjoys spending time with his wife and family, as well as reading, and spending too much money on comic books.
